Meaning: most likely derived from Greek medomai meaning "to think, to plan".
In Greek mythology, Medea was a sorceress, daughter of a king of Colchis and granddaughter of Helios, the sun god, who fell in love with Jason from Argonauts when he arrived for the Golden Fleece and helped him regain the throne of Corinth. She betrayed her own family, including being involved in the death of her own brother, to help him and they wed and had 2 sons; however, when Jason left her for another princess, Medea killed her, her father the king of Creon, and their two sons in revenge and afterward fled.
