Oleander

Origin: Latin, Greek

Meaning: from Latin lorandrum derived from Greek rhododendron meaning "rose tree" from rhoda (rose) and dendron (tree), though the spelling was later influenced by Latin laurea meaning "laurel" because of the leaves' resemblance to the laurel; the spelling was again influenced by Latin olea meaning "olive" or "olive tree", likely due to its superficial resemblence to the olive tree.

Oleander is a flower originally from the Mediterraean. It's a poisonous plant.

Nicknames: Ollie/Olly, Leander, Lee
